High Above Alankha
|
When planning Metrophor, Chris wrote up one or two very short stories to get the feel down and try to get some establishing shots. This is from one of those, and it gave me a good opportunity to do Alankha's skyline...and draw fun flying gizmos!

The Gates at Night

An early shot of Alankha's gates....they have much changed since then, as is evident from the comic itself.

Streets and Fog
|
Probably the first sketch I ever did for Metrophor, and it really established a lot of the art and architectural styles. It's very busy...I didn't emphasize anything. But then, I mostly just went freeform with a pen.

Fossil Golem
|
Though enchanting doesn't work with anything with organic components, that doesn't mean that it wouldn't work with fossils. Yes. That's right. Fear the giant skeletal saurian golem. More jaws is even better!

Street Clothes
|
I had a lot of trouble initially with Sheeli's street clothes. But I eventually got it ironed out. Now, the final incarnation is ever so slightly different than this...though that's mostly Sheeli's face and hair.

Cloud Bomber
|
The idea here was that the clouds expelled by the the skimmer would leave ground troops disorriented...leaving it free to drop those bombs on them.

Pridhee

The original concept piece for Pridhee. She made it into the comic almost completely unchanged.

Rikara

The only really significant change I made to Rikara was her hair. It was just way too flat in this picture...so I poofed it.

Bhotha

Haha! This is possibly my favorite of the character concept art. I think it's his grin and how akimo his legs are. Bhotha, too, is virtually unchanged between this and the comic

Kheid

I managed to pin down Kheid, but not his thaumod arm. It took me quite some time to come up with something I liked- the version in the comic. The one here is just something to occupy space.
